Decided to head down to Manitou Springs on 3/25 to do the incline and spend some time with my "lady" friend. For those who are not familiar with it he incline is an old cog railroad that went up a pretty steep part of pike's peak. Long ago they took the rails out but left the crossbeams to prevent erosion. The best way to envision it is to think of a long set of stairs (~1 mile long). However, unlike stairs which are nice and even the stairs at the incline are partially even then very high then very short then very...you get the drift.

I had plenty of water and the weather could not have been better for the first ascent (mid 50's). Long story short I finished in 1:42. It was good for a first attempt. The entire climb I did not have any issues with my leg muscles. What destroyed me was altitude adjustment. 2k feet over a distance just shy of 1 mile. I estimate that I stopped for at least 40 minutes on the climb just to catch my breath. The last 100 feet or so (Meagan was already at the top looking down at me) I believe I averaged 3 to 4 steps before I had to stop.
I have my 1:42 mark so next step is to beat it.
Finally made it to the top and found a boulder to crash on. 5 minute recovery minimum.
